MARICOPA COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT–FELONIES
There is a branch of Maricopa County Superior Court at 222 E. Javelina in Mesa, Arizona. The court handles Regional Court Center (RCC) matters, Early Disposition
Court, initial appearances and arraignments. Felony cases are set for IPTC’s (initial pretrial conferences) in the Criminal Tower in Phoenix, Arizona, and then for CPTC’s (comprehensive pretrial conferences); then a final trial management conference; and trial.
This process is the same for cases are felony matters including homicide, aggravated assault, sale or possession of dangerous drugs, aggravated or felony DUI (driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs), theft, armed robbery, etc. The cases start out in Mesa, and then are set in Phoenix if they are not resolved. Juvenile delinquency includes crimes committed by persons under eighteen years of age. Serious crimes by minors can be charged and punished as adult crimes, although Arizona law requires that juveniles in prison or jail be kept separate from adult prisoners.
